Ukrainian forces has finally captured Staromaiorske after a month of hard battle. The ejection of the Russian forces is announced by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry and corroborated by both pro-Russian and pro-Ukrainian sources.
However, based on available information, Ukrainian forces withdrew back to the outskirt of the village after taking videos and photos of their capture due to the lack of cover and possible fear of Russia's counterattacks, that had previously devastated Ukrainian troops in the multiple false capture of Makarivka (just north of this settlement).
Ukraine also could not fully capture the village without Urozhaine, which is still under full control of the Russian forces on the opposite shores of the Mokri Yaly River. This means, the battle at Staromaiorske will continue until more progress is made at Urozhaine by the Ukrainian forces.
